Toronto," June 30.—Mr. Saiu'uol F.

Grifliths of Sth avenue, in this city, has just sustained a torriblo all'iction in the death of his whole family—three little boy.s and a baby girl—all iu one week. The cause of death in eaoh case was a most malignant type of diph-th«>ritic croup, three of tbe children dying within 24 hours of each other. Dr. Ghent one of the physicians who attended the children, said to a Globe re-l)ortor yesterday that he had seen hundreds of diphtheria cases, but never any which were so obstinate or malignant. The children were in good health before being stricken down, and Dr. (ilient in his report of the cases attributed the disease to bad ventilation, Mr. Grilliths and other neighbor attribute the prevalence of diphtheria to a bad drain]in the vicinity. Two children in another family living opposite Mr. Griffiths were also attacked with the same disease.
